To revise the community posting for medical students, PALS Multiplicators collaborated with the Department of Community Medicine at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO).
The PALS approach fostered dialogue between the university and its host communities. With the approval of traditional and university leaders, lecturers were introduced to PALS, participated in a small PALS-project, and developed new perspectives on community-oriented learning and on collaboration between the health system and the community.
The initiative aimed on a community-driven needs assessment to inform and strengthen a renewed model of collaboration between the health system and the community. This collaboration led to a redesign of the community medicine posting curriculum, which is now being piloted with students.
